Amla Chutney

Winter is fast approaching and I am super excited. Winters bring along with them soothing weather and of course lots of green veggies. Haha!! My love for food can never end. 😆

I went to vegetable market previous evening and found some beautiful juicy amlas. These are also known as Indian Gooseberries. Very nutritious and very tasty. Eating them raw with some rock salt is what I have loved since childhood.

Amla carries many benefits with them and so are its culinary uses. Make a Murabba(jam), juice, pickle or chutney. The recipes are endless.

So I made some Amla Chutney today with the Besan Chillas for breakfast. They both were yum. Since the amlas are sour, the chutney does not require lemon. They give a beautiful light green colour and nice texture to the chutney. Try it and you will love it for sure.

Amla Chutney

Ingredients

2 big sized Amla
1 cup green coriander
2 - 3 Green chillies
1 small piece Ginger
1/2 tsp Jeera (Cumin)
Few fresh Pudhina leaves(Optional)
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp sugar

Method
  • Wash the amlas and chop them into pieces removing the seed.
  • In a chutney jar, add the chopped amla, green coriander leaves, green chillies, ginger, jeera, salt, sugar and pudhina.
  • Ginde them to paste. Add little water to grind finely.
  • Remove in a serving bowl.
You can use this chutney with chillas or any stuffed parathas.
