Homemade Mawa/ Khoya

Our country has bountiful varieties of sweets. Have you ever thought what becomes an important ingredient of mostly all sweet dishes. It is Mawa or Khoya as many people call it.

Just imagine that your sweet tooth is craving for some homemade sweet and you don't find mawa in nearby shops. It's simple to make at home. I have faced this problem and so started making it home. I follow a simple recipe and the result is too good. You can make it in just 10 minutes and will be very happy with the outcome.

Using this Mawa/ Khoya you can make any kind of Barfi, Gulab jamuns and also use it in gravys. I made this khoya to make some Hara Chana Barfi. I shall be posting its recipe soon.

Homemade Mawa / Khoya

Makes 200 grams

Ingredients

1 tbsp Butter / Ghee
1/4 cup Fresh Cream / Malai
1/3 cup Milk
1 cup Milk Powder

Method

  • In a pan (I used Non - stick) heat the ghee.
  • As it melts add in the cream and mix well.
  • Now pour the milk and mix well.
  • Once the ghee/ butter, milk and cream are mixed properly, slowly add the milk powder.
  • Keep stirring on medium flame till all the ingredients come together and start forming a firm lump. This should take about 7 -8 minutes.
  • Your khoya is ready. Remove in a separate bowl and let it cool. Sore in an airtight box in refrigerator.
Tips
  • You can use salted or unsalted butter.
  • Homemade Malai can also be used instead of Fresh Cream.
Make this easy homemade khoya and enjoy making homemade sweets.

Till then,

Stay Happy Stay Healthy!
